India Rankings 2024 or NIRF Rankings 2024 will be released by National Institutional Ranking Framework, Ministry of Education, Government of India, on August 12, 2024 at 3:00 PM IST.
For NIRF 2023 Rankings, a total of 5,543 institutions across India submitted data for consideration by NIRF. Of these 1,086 institutions took part in NIRF rankings for the first time during 2023. Though a total of 6,405 institutions across India had registered for NIRF 2023, a total of 862 institutions failed to submit the data to NIRF, hence 5,543 institutions were in the reckoning for the declaration of rankings.
Since 2017, amongst the institutions submitting data, NIRF declares the rankings under the category of Overall, provided such institutions are not focused on a single main discipline, and they have a total of at least 1,000 student intake or enrolled students in UG and PG programs. Out of a total of 5,543 institutions submitting data for NIRF 2023, 2,478 institutions were eligible for the rankings under the category of Overall.
During two years, 2017 and 2018, Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, was ranked first under the category of Overall.
However, since 2019, one institution, Indian Institute of Technology Madras, has topped the Overall rankings, for the last 5 years.
